Frugal Fatigue

I came across an interesting term the other day when I was looking at a site called Word spy. The term is "Frugal Fatigue" and it's defined as:
Mental exhaustion that is caused by constant frugality during tough economic times.

Apparently, it also entails a return to pre-recession spending habits. i.e. getting out the credit card and doing something extravagant.

I've always been frugal, thanks to the influence of my Grandfather, who experienced the Great Depression, so it's easier for me to be frugal than some. And yet, even I have had some frugal fatigue lately. But I think it especially hits my husband hard. Lately, he's had to do some of the grocery shopping, and he says that it hurts his head to compare prices and look for the best deal. I have to laugh at that, because that's what I've been doing all my life.

I think for me, it's not so much a wish for more extravagances, but I would like to travel. Spring is in the air, and I miss Gay Paree.

I looked at the bank account today. I have exactly .19 cents. That's because a payment just went through and I worked hard to get all the money in there to cover it. Otherwise, that jerk of a bank NBT will hit me with a 35 dollar overdraft charge. 19 cents from the edge!

Till soon,
Kayzee
